With Trouble Written in Dirt on Her Knees (Week 12) - 2020 Weekly Playlists

It's the beginning of the actual suggested self-quarantine. Pray for us all.

With Trouble Written in Dirt on Her Knees (Week 12)

She Does the Woods - The Last Shadow Puppets from the album Everything You've Come To Expect (Deluxe Edition) (2016)
  • I adore the chorus of this moody AF song. Plus, this album is everything I wanted from the Arctic Monkeys upon their return to music, not whatever that god awful Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino was.
I CHOOSE YOU - Adam Melchor from the single I CHOOSE YOU (2019)
  • A lot of these songs came from my Discover Weekly and I loved this one!
Checkmate - Conan Gray from the single Checkmate (2019)
  • I think I'm becoming a Conan Gray fan, y'all!
Crazy For Your Love - JAWNY from the single Crazy For Your Love (2018)
  • This song reminded me of Beck a lot and I looove it.
100 Letters - Halsey from the album hopeless fountain kingdom (2017)
  • I relate so hard to this song, but I love it a lot. It's deep and sad yet beautiful.
Close To Me (with Diplo) (feat. Swae Lee) - Ellie Goulding feat. Diplo and Swae Lee from the single Close to Me (feat. Swae Lee) (2018)
  • Ellie Goulding is one of the most talented musicians of our generation and I love this poppy song.
Venice Bitch - Lana Del Rey from the album Norman Fucking Rockwell (2019)
  • There are a few good songs on this album, "Venice Bitch" included obviously. I haven't been enthralled with Lana's work since Ultraviolence, but I have to give credit where it's due. Also it's weird as hell that she's dating Sticks from Live P.D..
Just Like Heaven - The Cure from the album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me (1987)
  • I heard this in the grocery store and I forgot how cute of a song it was.
Try A Little Kindness - Glen Campbell from the album Try A Little Kindness (1970)
  • Someone posted lyrics from this song on Facebook and it made me remember why I love Glen Campbell so much. We all need to be more kind these days.
Your Life Is Now - John Mellencamp from the album John Mellencamp (1998)
  • The lyrics of this song resonate with me as we approach this weird time of isolation. We have all the time in the world to think about what we are doing with our lives, specifically in the wake of this crazy pandemic. This song makes me feel peace while also empowering me to do whatever the heck I want to with my life. Mellencamp is the best (aside from his endorsement of Bloomberg... don't know what that was about).
Fancy - Reba McEntire from the compilation Best Of/20th Century (2006)
  • This came on the radio in the car a while back and everyone who grew up in the South during the 1990s and early 2000s knows Reba. An impromptu jam session was in order whether I wanted it or not.
It's Tricky - Run-D.M.C. from the album Raising Hell (1986)
  • James played this during our last dine-in outing with Carlie at Waffle House that week. I had to preserve the memory our last dine-in experience.
Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy - Fall Out Boy from the album Take This To Your Grave  (2003)
  • I love this song so much. I didn't get into FOB until I was in high school, but my love for Patrick Stump knows no bounds.
Girls / Girls / Boys - Panic! At The Disco from the album Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die! (2013)
  • I saw P!ATD in high school at my future university's basketball stadium where they opened up for Third Eye Blind. I had no clue who Panic! was aside from "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" but I remember thinking the singer had a perfect voice. Well here I am 7 years later, mad as hell that I didn't take advantage of being the closest I will probably ever get to Brendon Urie. Anyway, I remember this being the song that knocked my socks off at the concert. As an adult, the music video still ruffles my metaphorical feathers. Good GAWD!
Les Fleur - 4hero feat. Lady Alma and Face V. Walsh from the album Creating Patterns (2001)
  • James and I watched Us this weekend and HOLY COW. Our minds exploded. It was an amazing film, so amazing, in fact, that I watched it a second time with my mom. Watching it multiple times allows you to pick up on all the hints of the story within the beginning of the film. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. This song plays during the end of the film.

Bye, y'all. Stay inside and wash your hands!
Allie
